It’s The End Of The Year As We Know It or It’s My Birthday!

So, it’s that time of the year again. I almost can’t believe it’s been over a year since I started this whole website thing. I hope that I’ve improved the blogs and the overall appearance since I posted on my birthday last year.

If you haven’t already done the math, I’m turning 37. I guess that officially puts me in my late thirties, but if someone out there would like to argue with me that I’m still mid-thirties, I’ll take it. 😉

So much has changed in my life since December 30, 2014. Last year at this time, I wasn’t employed at all and making do on unemployment. I’m back on unemployment now, but it’s only because my hours dropped to less than half time. Not sure how I’m going to make it through with a limited income, but I’ve persevered so far. I guess all I can do is continue plugging along.

Has this year been better than 2015? Nope. In fact, I think it’s been worse. I’m grateful to have a somewhat steady income aside from what teeny, tiny amount I get from writing (mostly because I haven’t really published any books yet), but I’d like to have something more stable. Maybe 2016 will be better. Maybe.

Anyway, aside from that, my cat could have died. She had a bad tooth. She actually had two, but when they pulled the first one, her heart stopped. Tim and I were afraid that it might happen a second time if she went under anesthesia, so we held off on the second one. It got to the point where she barely ate and drank, so we took the plunge and got it pulled. I’m happy to report that she’s doing so much better, and is a pretty lively cat for having just celebrated her thirteenth birthday.

We also lost a member of the family just before Christmas. Tim’s brother’s wife’s grandmother died. Her funeral is today, but I’m not going for somewhat obvious reasons. We went to the viewing yesterday to support the family, and that’s good enough for me. Due to circumstances, I never really had a grandmother of my own, and this wonderful lady felt a lot like that to me. I’m going to miss her very much.

I can’t say the year was all doom and gloom though. I finally published Black Dragons as a standalone piece, so I got my foot in the door. The Games That We Play is in its final edits, and, fingers crossed, I should have it out next year. I wanted to hold off a little since the sequel, The Games That We Still Play was my NaNoWriMo novel this year, and even though I reached the 50,000 word goal, it’s not quite done yet. I have the feeling that I should release all three books in the trilogy pretty soon after one another.

I’m just about ready to start edits on In The Name Of Honor, which was my first NaNoWriMo novel, and the first book in the Thousand Suns Saga. We’ll see how that goes next year. I already have the second book, Seven Days To The Wolves, in rough draft format, so I’ll probably be going over that for publication next year too.

Here’s to hoping that things finally really start looking up in 2016. See you next year!
